Giuliana Rancic in Gauri and Nainika

Tea-length dresses are notoriously difficult to pull off, and whether it is a hit or a miss all comes down to styling. Giuliana kept her hair sleek and simple, and her shoes clean and plain; the dress was able to fully shine. The fabric choice is great for her, and it has just enough detail to be interesting without taking away from the stars she was interviewing.

I thought her Golden Globes look was alright, but this blew it out of the water. I can't wait to see what she wears next!

Queen Latifah in Michael Costello

The Queen hasn't missed yet this award season! It's hard to be completely covered without looking matronly, but the form-fitting shape of this dress and the detail in the beading keeps the look sexy. Pull the hair up, throw on a few black accessories, and call it a day. So much ease!

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab

SO MUCH BETTER than her look at the Globes!  I am utterly obsessed with this dress. The shape is so flattering and the detail is stunning. I'd kill to see it in white as a wedding dress.

While I would have preferred Rachel's hair to be a little sleeker, the contrast of the formal dress with the mussy hair kind of works. It can't be worse than her hair at the Globes, so I'll take what I can get.

Julianna Margulies in Berardi

If you know me at all, you know I adore The Good Wife. You know I'm super upset about the series ending. You know I will always root for anyone in TGW's cast forever and always.

Juliana has always been hit-or-miss on the carpet, but last year was a turning point for her and I think she's carrying on her winning streak this year. White is a great color for her, and the gown is a great mix of modern and traditional.

Kristin Wiig in Roland Mouret

This takes me back to Emma Stone's wonderful jumpsuit look from last year. Kristin is more of a Hollywood outsider, and it doesn't always make sense for someone in comedy to wear a ballgown. Go for the jumpsuit!

I love that she coordinated her bag and shoes to the metallic detail in the top. It made the look cohesive, and overall it was well-tailored and modern.

Best Brights

Tina Fey in Prabal Gurung

I am not usually a fan of Tina's red carpet looks, but this one was a winner for me. Totally simple. Totally classic. Tailored within an inch of your life. You can't go wrong!

Anna Faris in Naeem Khan

I love conservative dresses with sexy details. LOVE THEM.

I'm not crazy about the platform shoe or the matchy-matchy red bag, but they don't ruin the overall look.
The high slit and the V-back show just enough skin, and the mock-neck and a-line skirt keeps the look sweet and feminine. 

It reminds me of something Taylor Swift would wear, and who doesn't want to look like Taylor?

Uzo Aduba in Zac Posen

Green is such a hard red-carpet color, an green SEQUINS can look especially tacky, but Uzo managed to pull off a fantastic look!

It's a little Gatsby referential while still being modern, and her styling is everything. I want that clutch ASAP.

Claire Danes in Stella McCartney

Blondes in blue will always be my favorite, and this is a fantastic look for Claire. The silhouette is perfect for her body type and her hair and makeup just makes the look easy and fresh.

Viola Davis in Zac Posen

This very well could be the best Viola Davis has ever looked. I was  a little disappointed at Zac's tailoring through her midsection, because usually a Zac Posen dress is completely flawless and she was looking a tiny bit rumpled, but that is my only complaint.

The color is RICH. The silhouette is RICH. Her hair and makeup is RICH. If you can step out on the red carpet and look like an elegant queen, you know you've won.

Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton

This is definitely a "love it or hate it" look, and I don't think photos do it justice. When Alicia stepped onto the carpet in front of all the flashing lights, it was a major wham-bam moment.

Her styling really completed this look, and I love that she took a fashion risk and really pulled it off.

Worst Dressed

Sola Bamis

This is wrong in so many ways. The top simply isn't cut right, it's higher in the armpit on her left side than her right, and the bow. THAT BOW. It's like a weird orange Tinkerbell dress.

Not a win.

 Carol Burnett in Bob Mackie

I hate saying anything bad about Carol Burnett because...she's Carol Burnett. It's also hard to say anything bad about the winner of the lifetime achievement award. Also hard to say anything bad about Bob Mackie.

But, ugh. Just because you're older doesn't mean you have to resign yourself to a bad mother of the bride outfit. Age is no excuse for bad style - ask Helen Mirren!

 Julianne Moore in Givenchy

I love Julianne in Givenchy, and I love Julianne in green. But this green Givenchy is not the right fit.

The halter neckline and bandeau top isn't flattering at all, and the shade of green in the sequined fabric is just plain jarring.

SHE CAN DO BETTER!!

Gaby Hoffman in Rachel Comey

This fabric was used in a red carpet challenge for Season 14 of Project Runway. It's a double-sided sequin so the color changes when you touch it, and at the time I really liked it!  But the PR judges said it probably wouldn't work on the carpet because anytime you brushed up against anything, it would end up looking weird and sloppy and bad for photos.

They were right. It looks like the dress got snaggled up in something, and you can't tell if it's supposed to look like that or if it's a mistake.

Also, who decided a green shoe was a good idea??

Brie Larson in Versace

There's a lot happening in this look. The dress color and her styling? Flawless. But the rest? Eh.

Brie is way to pretty to be throwing a twisted asymmetrical bodice with a metallic side clasp with a high slit with a platform shoe. It's just too much and distracts from HER. She did the same thing at the Globes, and I'm really hoping she doesn't screw up at the Oscars (especially since she's favored to win.)

I get that this is her first big red carpet run, but that doesn't mean she has to throw on everything but the kitchen sink in order to get noticed.

Nicole Kidman in Gucci

I really wanted to like this, but I just can't.

The dress is unique and I understand the appeal, but the overall look just didn't work. With her hair down and the long sloppy necklaces and the random black bracelet, it just ended up being a bad Lana Del Rey moment.

Lori Petty

I don't think there's really much to say about this. I don't even know what context this outfit would be appropriate for. But hey. To each their own?
